Hawa Mahal is one of the most famous tourist places in Jaipur. This beautiful five-storey palace is known as the “Palace of Winds” because of its 953 small windows (called jharokhas) that allow cool air to pass through. This makes the palace breezy and comfortable, even in the hot summer months.

Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the palace was designed for the royal women. In those times, royal ladies could not be seen in public, so they used the tiny windows to watch the busy streets and grand festivals without being noticed.

The architecture of the Hawa Mahal is truly special. It is made of red and pink sandstone and has a pyramidal shape that looks like a crown. Interestingly, this is the tallest building in the world without a foundation! Its curved design has kept it standing strong for centuries.

Visitors can enter the palace and explore its beautifully decorated floors. At the top, you get an amazing view of Jaipur, including the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Siredeori Bazaar. Inside, there is also a small museum displaying old artifacts and miniature paintings.

Hawa Mahal is not just a palace; it is a symbol of Jaipur’s royal past and a masterpiece of Rajput and Mughal architecture. It is a must-visit for anyone exploring the Pink City!
