More Information
Nahargarh Fort is a beautiful hilltop fort on the Aravalli Hills, offering a stunning view of Jaipur. It was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II as a retreat and a defense structure to protect the city. The name Nahargarh means “abode of tigers”, as it was once a strong barrier against enemies.
Inside the fort, there is a grand palace called Madhavendra Bhavan, which was built for the royal family. It has 12 identical rooms for the queens and a special suite for the king, all connected by beautifully decorated corridors. The fort is also home to the Nahargarh Biological Park, where visitors can see tigers, leopards, and Asiatic lions.
Today, Nahargarh Fort is a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists. The Padao Restaurant, located inside, is a great place to enjoy a meal with a breathtaking city view. The fort looks even more magical at night, when the lights make it shine against the dark sky. If you love history, architecture, or scenic views, Nahargarh Fort is a must-visit.
