More Information
Amer Fort is one of the most famous tourist places in Jaipur. Sitting on top of a hill, this grand fort looks over Maota Lake and offers stunning views. It is made of pink and yellow sandstone, giving it a royal look. The fort is also known as Amber Palace, which is about 11 kilometers from Jaipur and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Built in 1592 by Maharaja Man Singh I, Amer Fort was once home to the Rajput rulers. It has huge gates, long staircases, and hidden passages, making it feel like a maze. The fort is divided into four sections, each with its own courtyard. It takes at least 2-3 hours to explore, and many visitors choose to use an audio guide to learn about its history.
One of the best ways to reach the fort is by taking an elephant ride up the hill, just like the royals did in the past. If you prefer a slower experience, you can also enjoy a camel ride. Inside, you can walk through beautiful gardens, grand gateways, and ancient courtyards decorated with old paintings and marble carvings. If you love history and architecture, this place is a must-visit in Jaipur!
