More Information
City Palace is one of the most famous tourist places in Jaipur. It is located in the heart of the city, just 4 km from the railway station. Unlike other forts built on hills, this grand palace stands inside the walled city and covers a large area with courtyards, gardens, and royal buildings.
Built in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, City Palace is a beautiful mix of Mughal and Rajput architecture. Over the years, different rulers added new structures, making the palace even more impressive. Even today, a part of the palace is home to the royal family of Jaipur.
Inside, you will find museums, galleries, and historical collections. The Mubarak Mahal, once a royal guesthouse, now displays royal costumes, silk sarees, and Pashmina shawls. The Maharani’s Palace has a collection of ancient Rajput weapons, some dating back to the 15th century. The palace ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings that show the rich culture of Rajasthan.
The palace has three main gates, but only Virendra Pol and Udai Pol are open to visitors. With its grand design, rich history, and cultural treasures, City Palace is a must-visit place in Jaipur!
