Indrapuri Dam, also known as Indrapuri Barrage or Sone Barrage, is one of the most famous places to visit in Sasaram, Bihar. It is built across the Son River, a major tributary of the Ganga River. The dam is 1,407 meters (4,616 feet) long, making it the fourth longest barrage in the world. It was built by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) in the 1960s and was completed in 1968.

This place is a popular picnic spot, especially during public holidays. Families and tourists visit the dam to relax, enjoy nature, and spend quality time. Some people enjoy bathing in the river, while others prefer sunbathing or participating in water activities. The calm and beautiful surroundings make it a perfect place for a peaceful getaway.

Indrapuri Dam also plays an important role in water management. There are future plans to connect the Ganga River with the Son River through a 149.10 km long canal, called the Chunar-Sone Barrage Link Canal. This project is part of the National River Linking Project and will help in water distribution and irrigation in the region.

Whether you want to enjoy a picnic, explore the dam’s history, or admire its massive structure, Indrapuri Dam is a must-visit destination in Sasaram
