Situated amidst the scenic Kaimur Hills, the Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1979, is the largest in Bihar, spanning approximately 1,505 square kilometers. This sanctuary, located on the Rohtas and Kaimur plateaus, is a paradise for nature lovers, blending natural beauty, rich biodiversity, and cultural heritage.

The lush forests, dominated by Sal, Palash, and Mahua trees, provide a haven for wildlife like leopards, sloth bears, and several deer species, while bird enthusiasts can spot peacocks, partridges, and quails. The sanctuary is dotted with stunning waterfalls such as Karkat, Manjhar Kund, Dhua Kund, and Maa Tutla Bhawani, making it a picturesque retreat.

The waterfalls are also one of the best tourist destinations and are worth visiting. Best visited between October and March, this sanctuary is an emerging eco-tourism destination, offering an unforgettable experience of trekking, wildlife spotting, and cultural exploration.
